Isles of Scilly Swimrun will be a true test for the teams of two that will tackle a course close to 45 km long with a minimum of eight swims. The open-water swim sections will total around 10 km and the 35 kilometres remaining will be made up of beautiful trail-running over and around the major islands of St. Mary’s, Tresco, St. Martin and Bryher. The course will be epic! Registration opens on November 26th at 16:00 CET for this inaugural race. See http://www.islesofscillyswimrun.com for more info.
The Isles of Scilly are off the south-west tip of England, in the Atlantic. They have been inhabited since the Stone Age and is a mythical place. All in all 140 islands of which five are inhabited. At times, when low tide is low, you can walk between islands. Exceptional beauty and a pristine environment where the power of the ocean is never far away!
Swimrun is a new sport originating from ÖTILLÖ that started ten years ago in Sweden. ÖTILLÖ means ”island to island” in Swedish and teams of two race together along race courses where they alternate between running and swimming. The sport has now grown to have more than 75 races world-wide and is often talked of as one of the fastest growing sports. ÖTILLÖ is the Swimrun World Championship with qualifying events in a growing ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series. See http://www.otilloswimrun.com for more info
