Get Ready for the 2016 Trails In Motion Film Festival
News Release / 10.12.2015
Each year the Trails In Motion Film Festival brings a selection of the finest trail and ultra running films to communities around the world. And as always, the 2016 world tour line up will be no different, featuring a wide variety of exciting and inspirational stories that are sure to leave local audiences motivated to get outside and explore.
"Since the tour began in 2013, the quality of production in this genre has steadily increased," said founder and Tour Director James Hallett. "With more than forty films submitted during our official submissions period earlier this year, the decision to narrow it down to just seven productions was a real tough one."
Endurance, personal discovery, adventure, community, even conservation are central to the theme of the Trails In Motion 4 line up, each film offering new insight into why people choose to run, showcasing some of the planet's most breathtaking trail running destinations in the process.
In 2015, the world tour reached audiences in excess of 14,000+ at 167 screenings across 26 countries as far afield as Mexico, Japan, New Zealand, even on the Atlantic islands of the Azores and Tenerife, a feat the Trails In Motion team are seeking to emulate in 2016.
Hallett continues: "Our on-going objective with the Trails In Motion Film Festival is to not only present trail and ultra running film makers with the opportunity to showcase their work, but also to create a unique community experience for the thousands of people who attend screenings around the world. What's important to us is that our audiences get to socialize with like-minded people, away from the typical race-day environment, and in doing so leave with a true sense of inspiration and excitement about the sport."
Among the seven films on the Trails In Motion 4 world tour is the headliner production This Is Your Day, a film by American photographer and film maker Myles Smythe. The film documents the lives of elite athletes Rob Krar (The North Face) and Caroline Boller (Nike Trail Running), as well as Ultrarunning Magazine editor Karl Hoagland as they prepare for, and race the 2015 Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run, the oldest 100-miler in the world.
"The cast and crew of This Is Your Day are ecstatic that our film has been chosen as this year's headliner for the 2016 Trails in Motion Film Festival," said Executive Producer Mike Cloward. "It is an honor to have our film shown alongside so many other excellent titles produced this year by our peers in the industry. We hope everyone enjoys watching This Is Your Day as much as we enjoyed making it."
The 2016 world tour schedule will be available on the Trails In Motion website from January 1st with additional screenings being added weekly so be sure to locate a screening near you. For more information you can also follow the Trails In Motion Film Festival onFacebook, Twitter or Instagram.
