Arrow International Sydney 24 Hour Adventure Race - May 14th & 15th 2005
Richard Anderson / 12.04.2005
Sydney’s longest running adventure race - the Arrow 24 Hour Adventure Race - will once again be contested in the Central Coast area on the 14th and 15th of May. Just an hour’s drive from Sydney, the Central Coast area offers excellent terrain, which includes both open water and sheltered kayaking, single track and fire break mountain biking, bush trails and of course great weather.Coasteering will be introduced to the Sydney event for the first time. Coasteering is a relatively new discipline, which involves tramping the coastline and where impassable by land, swimming or wading through water.
This year’s course will also include an “adventure-gain†tramping leg. Similar to a rogaine, teams have the option of choosing to complete the full course or take time penalties and complete a shorter course. This allows experienced teams to race a competitive full course and the less experienced with the opportunity to leap frog to the front of the field while still participating in all activities.
The Arrow 24 Hour Adventure Series is a great challenge for seasoned adventure racers, while also an achievable introduction to adventure racing for less experienced teams. For those looking to partake in this year’s Geo Quest, the Arrow 24 Hour Race is a must do to hone race skills and build endurance. All teams can expect a big day out racing, with faster teams expected to finish within approximately 15 hours, and slower or less experienced teams to complete the event within 24 hours.
