The Toughest Documentary Series in the World

News Release / 10.05.2016

2015's Expedition Alaska was a 7-day expedition race through the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska. Teams of four trek, bike, packraft, cross glaciers, whitewater raft, and kayak through the wilderness. The 400-mile multi-sport epic was filmed by a collaboration of students, teachers and professionals from around the world in the guise of the University of Cincinnati Production Masterclass, co-taught by CCM Professor Kevin Burke, DAAP Professor Yoshiko Burke and UC/CCM Alumnus and Emmy award-winning producer Brian J. Leitten.

This past year 7 students, 2 teachers and 11 professionals experienced the adventure of a lifetime when they traveled to the wilds of Alaska to film Expedition Alaska and produce a documentary series following the 20 teams, capturing their highs and lows, their injuries and victories, as well as the beauty and danger of the Alaskan Wilderness.

They have now launched an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign in order to complete our project and bring it to the public. At the moment the group are creating four half-hour episodes about the race, but if more than the initial goal is raised, then the series will be extended.

There are some adventurous perks for supporters to enjoy, including the full documentary series, Expedition Alaska swag, entry into different adventure races in the US, previous adventure documentaries from the past three years of the class and our production partners, the chance to sponsor a team and have your company in the documentary and the chance to have our class create a documentary with you (though that may take some arranging for supporters outside the US!)
