Parents Want Kids To Get Outdoor Experiences
News Release / 06.07.2016

The final race of Royale International Kayak n Run Series draws to a close at Tai Tam Bay this Saturday. The enthusiastic participation of people once again proves that the Royale International Kayak and Run race series is one of the most popular adventure racing events in Hong Kong.
The race will start with a kayaking session at Tai Tam Tuk for a 4 km ocean kayak leg out to Windy Gap and then paddling to To Tei Wan before running over different check points passing Shek O Peak 284m in elevation on Dragons Back, Shek O Country Park which for some was over 6 km, before the final 2 km ocean kayak back to Tai Tam Bay.
With the desire of introducing this event to their kid, Team Chong Family have decided to join the family category right away. “We joined the event in a rush, therefore we still haven’t started preparing for the Kayak training yet. For trail running, both Bryan and I have been doing routine practices regularly.” When being asked about their goals for this year’s race, Team Chong Family states that this is their first time joining as a family and the main purpose would be letting their kid to experience this activity and have fun. Therefore, they do not have any desire for challenging results. Team Chong Family also provides some tips and advices to beginners who would like to join trail running, “I think, for beginners, 5km trail with some uphill courses is appropriate for adults while the easier 3km trail is better for kids.”
On the other side, Team Smart Lady, a strong female team that is participating in the adult category shared some of their experiences on how they balance their daily works and trainings. “Since all of us have our own busy schedules, it is very difficult for us to spare time and practice together. Therefore, we usually practice on our own and rarely practice as a team.” Team Smart Ladies also encourages people to join trail running. “Trail running requires motivation and determination. Through trainings and competitions, runners are able to develop confidence and the habit of setting personal goals. Building these qualities makes runners stronger and more capable to face difficulties and cooperate with different situations.”
The Royale International Kayak n Run Series could not happen without the generous support of the presenting sponsor Royale International, and supporting partners ActionX Store, LIFEPROOF, Salonsip, Herbalgy, Gatorade, OL&N, Socam, Key Sun Zinke and Action Asia Foundation.
