Runners Excited for the Final Leg of C3fit Bonaqua Action SPRINT Series

Press Release / 05.05.2017

The C3fit Bonaqua Action SPRINT series is in high gear and coming to the final leg at Sai Kung. Since the first race in Repulse Bay, runners’ persistent enthusiasm has never changed. The final race starts at Saturday 8:00am, with over 300 runners ready to enjoy the excitement brought by the technical Sai Kung race.

The race aims to see beautiful scenery off the main trails and send people into locations they don't usually go; all the while reducing our carbon footprint. Runners will start the race with a 5km run through a private country park road. After a 5.5km dirt trail run, there comes a combination of technical track and stone stairs. Finally, the race ends with 2km running along a smooth trail. The whole course is reasonably designed and suitable for all type of runners or fast hikers.

UK runner Daniel Segal is looking forward to the race. He used to suffer from panic attacks till trail running changed his life. “My panic attacks would become severe, with heart palpitations, sweats, and a feeling so overpowering that I felt I was going to pass-out,” he said. But once he started to hit the trails, that all changed. “I found that I could control the panic attacks more as being on the trails made me learn how to regulate my heart rate, control my breathing, and also take my mind off the everyday stresses and focus on here and now.  It also made me more aware of my surroundings and my body, and let me lead a healthier lifestyle.” Now Daniel always teams up with his dog Poppy and goes on 30-40 km hikes on weekends.

Melissa Whelan, an Australian trail run enthusiast shares how life changed after trail running “Trail running has changed my life. I love it! I encourage those around me to join as well. After being in HK a number of years, the streets of LKF have lost their allure. So I rely on Action Asia races to keep me motivated!”

A 19-year-old local runner from the North Face Explorers team, David Lee Tai Wei, registered for the whole SPRINT series this year. As a student, races entry fee are an expense hobby for David, so he has to skip some social activities to save money. Because of studying, he gets up at 5:00am for training every morning, and participates in a lot of races every weekend. He believes that true friends will support his lifestyle, and some of them will start running under his influence. David said: "I often encourage some friends to run with me, I tell them the differences between trail running and road running. I usually encourage them with a white lie, such as, I tell them we will arrive the destination soon, but in fact it is still far away. As my expectation, some friends fall in love with trail running now! "

The C3fit Bonaqua Action SPRINT Trail Series has been operating for the past 14 years. Action Asia Events is dedicated to creating diversified and challenging routes. Runners are given the opportunity to set foot on trails that are rarely experienced and explore suburbs and scenery that take you outside of the concrete city. It is definitely a great opportunity for physical and mental challenges.

The event is possible due to the generous support of presenting sponsor C3fit and Bonaqua and supporting partners: LIFEPROOF, Action X Store, Aquarius, HOKA ONE, HKRI, OL&N, and the Action Asia Foundation.
