Wilderness ARC Teams Announced
Rob Howard / 11.07.2005
The team list for the inaugural Wilderness ARC has now been announced, with a strong British entry and competitors from 8 nations in 27 teams. (Several more are waiting confirmation so the final start line up is expected to be over 30 teams.)The strong UK entry was expected, with the race being this year’s British Championship. However, and it is also a World Series event and there will be some strong international entries travelling to the Highlands of Scotland in August.
There are 3 US teams entered and ‘Solarverse Tech’ are probably the most experienced team in the race, with the race bios of all the team members going back to the first Eco-Challenge and the Hi-Tec races in the early nineties. Apart from his successful race record over 10 years Danny Moy is well known for his role as a Course Director and trainer. Karen Stokes has raced for the USA at Triathlon and Duathlon, while Charlie Engle is an instructor at the Odyssey Adventure Racing School and one of the world’s top ultra-endurance runners, winning last year’s ‘Racing the Planet’ 150 mile race in Peru. Nick Moore, who has raced Eco-Challenge many times, completes this formidable team.
Other US teams racing are ‘Mandatory Gear.com’ and ‘Tamarack Resort’, and the international contingent is made up of two Irish teams, the strong Dutch squad 4xtreme, ‘.markerz.Adventureracers’ from Sweden& Denmark and team ‘MIZUNO - Sport 2000 Chambéry’ of France.
