Another Sell Out Weekend
Rob Howard / 09.08.2005
There’s another busy race weekend coming up, but if you’ve not already booked your place at the Questars or endurancelife events ... it’s too late! Both are sold out.The third Questars race of the year will be held in the Vale of Pewsey in Wiltshire on Saturday. It’s an area the Questars planners know well and they’ve prepared a 5 hour course for those on the ‘Duo’ category, and a 6 hour course for those who’d like to include some kayaking and have entered the ‘Trio’ category. Anyone who has raced there in the past will know the deep vales can mean a surprising amount of uphill running and riding during the day.
The teams at the top of the series leaderboard after the first two races will be after high points scores to count towards their totals. There are cash prizes on offer for the top scoring teams at the end of the year.
On the same day endurancelife are holding one of their ‘Classic’ races, on their ‘home territory’ in Devon, but this time there is a change to the usual format. Due to the complexities of the tides in the area it proved logistically impossible to host the usual ‘Classic’ & the half-distance ‘Classic Lite’ events at the same time, so they’ve created the ‘Classic enduro' at a distance midway between the two to suit everyone.
The Sit on Top Kayaking takes place on the stunning and internationally recognized Kingsbridge & Salcombe Estuary, with it’s abundant wildlife. This finishes on the beach at South Sands where teams will begin the trail run along the South West Coastal Path, before cutting inland for the cross county section back to base. Finally, the Multi-Terrain Mountain Biking section, a challenging combination of tracks, trails and country lanes, loops out towards the coast for a testing finish.
We’ll have news and reports from both races next week.
