Namma Adventure Race (ASIA Series)
Namma Adventure Race 2021 – India’s First 24-Hour Adventure Race in the Adventure Racing World Series-ASIA
Press Release / 27.10.2021
Following the successful reunion of international teams at the recent Adventure Racing World Championships in Spain, the AR World Series Asia Region is set to resume in December at the first ever Namma Adventure Race.
As part of a program to grow adventure racing in India, NthAdventure has launched India’s first 24-hour race as part of Asia Regional Series. The race was planned for 2020, however, like so many others it was set back, but now is the right time to move forward and support Adventure Tourism in India.
India’s first 24-Hour ARWS Race will be hosted in the beach town of Mulki, Mangalore, Karnataka, India, supported by various stakeholders and partners who have given their enthusiastic support for the event.
The Namma Adventure Race is a 130KM (24-Hour) course that includes, kayaking, hiking, trail running, MTB, orienteering and local cultural elements. All teams racing will gain ARWS Asia ranking points, and the winning team* gets a PAID entry to the India Regional Championship in September 2022.
The race is suitable for beginners as well as elite athletes. A basic knowledge of navigation, endurance, outdoor skills and determination will be required to complete the race. Entry is limited to 20 teams, and all safety protocols will be followed, with medical assistance available along the entire course.
Race Director Ajita Madan Says, “This race is going to be the stepping-stone for upcoming teams from India to represent our country in regional and World Championships. India is a country which is known for its history, hospitality, culture, cuisines, and amazing landscapes and is perfectly suited for adventure racing.
“With every race we incorporate various local and cultural activities, living up to the essence of the sport, and with the aim to boost local tourism. India has everything for adventure racers, and we need all your support in growing the sport, with the goal to have India represented at the World Champs in coming years.”
Race Director Sayeesha Kirani Says, “We have waited a long time for this moment, and now, finally, we can invite and welcome athletes from our own and neighbouring countries.
“Being part of the ARWS ASIA SERIES is a big boost for adventure racing in India. We are so excited to showcase our country to the adventure racing community and invite them to join us from across Asia and the world, to take up the challenge and interact with communities in the race region.”
He added, “Now Adventure Racing is being recognized by many different brands and we are happy to be partner with the brands who are supporting us in growing the adventure racing community.”
