A new 50K route for the 3rd edition of Nice Côte d'Azur by UTMB
Press Release / 21.03.2024
The 3rd edition of the Nice Côte d'Azur by UTMB promises an unforgettable experience from 3-6 October 2024 with a brand new 50K course (54km and 2,100 M+) that starts at the Col d’Eze and finishes on the Promenade des Anglais.
This year, the Nice Côte d'Azur by UTMB 50K will start from the legendary Col d’Eze at an altitude of 500m, offering breath-taking views over the French Riviera and the Mercantour, and will take runners on a 54km adventure with 2,100 M+ (vertical gain).
Runners will set off from the heart of the Grande Corniche Departmental Park and wind their way around the Fort de la Revère to reach the Cime de Cabanelle at 1,090m. Just 18.5km from the start, the Epaule de la Cime du Baudon is the highest point of the course at 1,200m, and offers panoramic views of the Mercantour and the heights around Nice.
The descent weaves through the hilltop villages of Peille and Peillon, then along an old irrigation canal, where the course joins the 100K and 100M routes. The foothills of the Côte d'Azur Prealps via the Mont Leuze trails are the final challenge.
Course highlights: the trails overlooking Nice, Port Lympia (the Old Port of Nice) with its famous ‘pointus’ (colourful traditional fishing boats), and the finish line on the legendary Promenade des Anglais.
The new 50K promises to be an unforgettable race with a challenging course that combines mountains and the Mediterranean against a majestic backdrop.
