Miles 4 Murray is a fundraising campaign organised by friends of Murray and Jane Eastman.Murray and Jane were involved in a tragic car accident whilst on holiday in South Africa. They now face a long-term rehabilitation and recovery period, which is compounded by financial hardship as a result of this accident.
The major focus for our campaign is the Mont 24hr Mountain Bike Race, which will be held in the ACT region on the weekend of 8-9 October 2005. The event is the biggest 24hr race in the world and attracts approximately 1500 riders. It is a major event in the Canberra region, attracting participants from across the country and around the globe and providing a major boost to local tourism.
To raise funds, we intend to seek donations from the community either in the form of an upfront donation, or a pledge for x amount per kilometre ridden by our teams competing in the 24hr event. Teams will all be riding under the team name of Miles 4 Murray and all funds raised will go to support Murray and Jane’s recovery. Murray and Jane are in need of immediate financial support, and we are committed to helping them through this challenging time the best we can.
The initial goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of the race.
