The Gothenburg Archipelago presented itself at its best for this year's ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Gothenburg. The weather conditions were calm and very sunny with warm air temperatures and a water temperature of around 20 degrees. The race course was very challenging: the athletes had to complete a total race distance of 39 km with 31.8 km of very technical trail running and 7.3 km of swimming. 29 running sections and 28 swim sections meant a lot of transitions for the racers. More than 700 athletes from 33 nations participated in the three distances World Series, Sprint and Experience. It was the largest number of participants in an ÖTILLÖ race in Sweden.

After a few years of absence from Swimrun racing, former ÖTILLÖ World Champion Oscar Olsson raced together with Adriel Young to win the World Series race in very dominant fashion, eleven minutes ahead of the French duo Matthieu Poullain and Alexandre Dumoulin.

Statement Adriel Young:

"We had a good day. The first swim we had a group of just four of us and then we just had a good run on those technical runs. We did our own race and it worked in the end. We had a few sections where we wanted to push where it was really technical running."

Statement Oscar Olsson

"It felt good to be back. It was a little rusty because we did not do any training sessons together recently but all the races we have done before made it all work well in the end. It was actually ten years ago since I won for the first time on this course so it felt good to be back after three years out."

In the mixed category Amanda Nilsson and Hugo Tormento, arguably the two best female and male swimrunners in the world at the moment, teamed up for the first time in a race before they will start together in this year's ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship. They showed a solid performance, finishing eleven minutes ahead of Fredrik and Lorraine Axegård from Sweden. Emma and Mattias Isberg (both SWE) completed the podium.

Ulrika Eriksson and Hanna Skårbratt (both SWE) continued their winning streak on their home course with a strong performance, 20 minutes ahead of Anna Larsson and Eva Rongård. It was Ulrika's and Hanna's third consecutive win at ÖTILLÖ Gothenburg.

Marina Andersson and Johan Skårbratt (both SWE) won the female and male categories in the solo race.

The next race of the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series 2024 will be held in Casco Bay, USA on August 11th.
