2006 AR World Championship Details Announced

The 2006 ARWorld Championships will take place between August 16th – 23rd, in the land of the Sámi people and the Midnight Sun above the Arctic Circle, on a course spanning Southern Lapland in Sweden and Nordland in Norway.

The area is famous for its breathtaking scenery, strikingly beautiful fjords and spectacular glaciers. Untamed white-water rivers meet the Atlantic Ocean It is a land of unexplored caves, true wilderness and total freedom.

It promises to be a setting to test the best and the cream of the world’s endurance athletes will qualify through AR World Series events around the world, to earn the right to take part in one of the toughest competitions on the planet.

Those teams who have already ventured North to Explore Sweden will testify to the difficulty of the terrain, and of the courses planned by Michael Nordström and Helena Lind. And for the 2006 World Championships they are working with Michael Lemmel, using all their 10 years of racing and course planning experience to produce a World Championship course.

"A long and conscious effort to arrange adventure races is finally paying off,” said lind. “We have, with Explore Sweden 2004 and 2005, showed that we can arrange adventure races of world class, and we now have to opportunity to host the World Champs in 2006. It’s a big dream that’s come true."
