Polaris Entries Still Open
Rob Howard / 04.10.2005
The Autumn ’05 Polaris, the first under the ‘new management’ of Detail Events, takes place this coming weekend and entries are still open for anyone who wants to join 400 others in a weekend of mountain biking plenty in the Western Lakes. This organisers and planners are promising some great riding for all levels of ability, dramatic backdrops, mountainous passes and even a bit of inter-tidal riding! The event centre and campsite will be at the Seven Acres Caravan Park near Gosforth in the Western Lakes and a special A3 double-sided map has been produced by Stirling Surveys. It will plot courses which will take riders to the sea, the cycle ways of the north, into steep forests and over mountainous passes inland. The whole course area is a vast 500 square kms … so expect plenty of route choice!
The location of the overnight campsite is, as always, a closely guarded secret, but there’s a promise of a “nice grassy green field, in a dramatic area, with plenty of clean natural running water and some shelter behind walls.†Also promised are “a few morale boosting treats and a ‘give-out’ location for Sunday morning may be the most dramatic ever seen in the Polaris Challenge!â€
Those who want to are also invited to stay on Sunday night and join the PC staffers, volunteers and other competitors for a post-race night out in the bars of Gosforth.
Anyone who wants to get a late entry in can find full details on the event website at www.PolarisChallenge.com.
