Teva Champs
Geocentric / 20.11.2005
Last years champions, the legendary team of AROC Mountain Designs are back to defend their title. There are no guarantees though as the team will be racing away from their home turf and with regular team captain, Alina McMaster, out with injury. Making up this formidable team though are AROC regulars, Tom Landon Smith and Mat Dalziel with mountain biking diva Rosi King stepping in to fill some big shoes. The team will be out to win and claim the $3000 first prize, but it will not be easy with several other teams determined to give them a run for their money. At the top of the list and hungry for a win, is team Mountain Designs. This team has won the Brisbane event twice and came a close second in the Sydney 2005 race. The team is captained by Gary Sutherland and includes navigation wizard Anna Sheldon and “legs of steel†Brett Stevens. The team members are from the Gold Coast and delighted the event is being held on their “stomping groundâ€. This team excels at the trademark obstacles that are a huge part of each Teva event.
Another Queensland team, (with one huge import), team Torque Landrover / Area 51 are also from the Gold Coast and know the area well. Captained by ex Surf Ironman legend, Guy Andrews, the team won last years Brisbane Teva event and also took out the recent Katmandu event on the Gold Coast. Guy has teamed up with multisport legend, John Jacoby and X-Terra strong woman Kim Beckinsdale for the Teva Champs. The team are masters of endurance and if the race was straight test of endurance, all money would be on them.
