People Telecom Urban Polaris

The People Telecom Urban Polaris started off life in Sydney 6 years ago as a fun \'training\' event for the bush based 2 day Nalgene Polaris Challenge MTB navigation event. But since moving to cycle friendly Canberra in 2002, its developed an identity of its own and grown accordingly.

\'The beauty of the Urban is that riders only go as hard as they want in the 7 hours\' said Event Director Huw Kingston. \'Those going for gold will ride 130km+ and criss cross the ACT in their quest for points whilst those going for a good time will take it easy, visit a few checkpoints, stop for a coffee or lunch and enjoy what is without doubt the perfect event for \'seeing\' Canberra by bike. We\'ve got the usual mix of dirt and blacktop, the usual mix of challenging and weird checkpoints (The Urban is renowned for its \'non cycling\' elements) and with riders from every state and territory in Australia, we plan to show them why the ACT is truly Australia\'s Cycling Territory. With some ACT buses now taking bikes, riders might even want to check the bus timetables!\'
