Hebridean Challenge – Now Open to Pairs Only

John Laughlin / 16.12.2005
The organisers of the Hebridean Challenge are delighted to announce that due to overwhelming interest in the 2006 race, team entries have now closed, seven months in advance of the July race.

The number of team entries is unfortunately limited due to space on the small inter-island ferries for the team vehicles, however, 26 lucky teams of five (or four without a kayaker) have got their entries in early, leaving only space for a few more pairs teams.

Room For Pairs

The pairs category is open to those wishing to take on one of the biggest challenges in UK AR in 2006. The pair will be entirely self-supporting and will undertake the majority of the team course, so will be required to have sufficient long distance racing experience, excellent navigation skills and hold or be prepared to gain the BCU 4* sea kayak qualification.

Entry fee for a pair is £200, but a deposit of £100 secures a place. Further details and entry forms can be found on the race website: www.hebrideanchallenge.com and the organisers will be pleased to answer any queries.

Seeking a Sponsor

The race organisers are still searching for a title sponsor to replace One.Tel who have stepped aside after three years support. This unique race attracted extensive TV and press coverage in 2005, helping greatly to boost entries for 2006. Anyone with suggestions for sponsorship should contact the organisers, whose details are on the website.
