LAMM Heads North

23.12.2005
The date for the 2006 Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon has been set for 17/18th June, the same weekend as last year. As usual, the venue will be an undisclosed location in keeping with a race known as the Connoisseurs Mountain Marathon, but this time it will be further north than Isle of Mull 2005. Race Director Martin Stone said, “We like to hold a ‘far north’ and a ‘not so far north’ event on alternate years, always in a classic part of the Scottish Highlands.”

The planner for 2006 is Andy Spenceley, well known to mountain marathoners and fell runners alike and Angela Mudge is returning again as controller, assisted again by her sister Janice Mudge.

Full details will go onto the race website in the new year but the 2005 information will give anyone thinking of entering a good idea of what is involved. The race filled up last year so it’s advisable to get an entry in early, though there are a few slots kept free to allow late entries for Elite and A class teams. Entry is online only and opens in mid February.

There is good news from sponsors Lowe Alpine, who have guaranteed another two years of support to secure the event for the foreseeable future, continuing a partnership which began at the first event at Arrochar in 1994.
