100+ Teams for Final Trailplus

Rob / 06.09.2002

The final Trailplus event of the year, to be held at Sandhurst on Saturday Sept. 14th will be the biggest ever. There are already over 100 teams entered, and with last minute entries still arriving the limit of 110 teams could be reached. So, if you’re still thinking about going don’t hesitate too long!

It’s another indication of the growth of AR at grass roots level as the Trailplus series are aimed at those new to the sport, and the final race will follow the format which is now well established. Teams will tackle a series of ‘high intensity’ challenges mixed in with the core disciplines of trail running and mountain biking in Swinley Forest. There will also be canoeing in inflatables on the lakes at Sandhurst Military College, where the start/finish area is.

With everything looking good for the final race, where Team \'Blue Notes\' are going for a hat-trick of wins, there has been some confusion recently following an email sent out by former Trailplus partner Mike Foy, saying he has left the company, and by the fact the Trailplus web site is not currently available.

SleepMonsters.com have spoken to both Keith Anderson and Paul Magner from Trailplus (currently busy running adventure challenges for Land Rover up in Scotland) and they’ve told us plans for September 14th are almost complete. “We’re really looking forward to the final race of the season,” said Magner, “and although the company is going through some changes right now there will be no effect on the final race. We’ll make it a competitive, challenging and enjoyable event as always.”
