A new Scottish One Day Adventure Race Series has been announced for 2006.The “Wan Dae†Series will form the first of a number of new events planned for Scotland as part of the newly formed “Scottish Adventure Race Series,†created and operated by Detail Events.
The races, which for the first year will all be based within striking distance of Edinburgh and Glasgow, will be run on the popular score format and feature foot and bike sections as well as kayaking and team problem solving.
The Detail Events planning team will feature the usual combination of Jim Mee and Gary Tompsett at the helm with Hebridean Challenge course designer John Laughlin joining the fold as Race Director for all 3 of the 2006 “Wan Dae†events.
John comments: “It’s great to join Detail for the production of these new events – Scotland needs more good races as there is now such a buoyant scene and I’m going to make sure the \'Wan Dae\' series brings some new experiences and interesting locations to novices and experienced racers alike.â€
Scotland has been enjoying steadily increasing numbers in racing over the last two years and with the recent news of the Wilderness ARC becoming the World Adventure Racing Championships in 2007 the region is experiencing a real feel-good factor.
Edinburgh’s Rat Race is set to attract upwards of 600 participants this year and this event alone is sure to create demand for more racing in Scotland. The new series has been designed for all comers and it is expected that Rat Racers looking for training, as well as budding Wilderness ARC aspirants will find something new and challenging from the Series.
