The X Adventure, The Raid World Cup
SleepMonsters Australia / 01.02.2006
Local teams lining up so far are Team Millie from Sydney, Matt Blundell, Matt Acheson, Zoe King and Warren Burgess, from Melbourne, Melbourne Adventure-Wilderness Wear, Jarad Kohlar, Delyth Lloyd and Simon Knowles (let us know the 4th Guys), also from Victoria, Team Malaga Cycles, Ricky Thackray (from Kewdale), Guy Power, Deb Dobson and Stephen Gray, and it seems a couple of Aussies are racing under the US flag for Team Spyder, namely John Jacoby and Narelle Ash.So what lies ahead for these guys and everyone else, thanks to Lotta Richter from the team behind the series we were able to get a bit of a glimpse,
Firstly a longer race than last year, due to the terrain being quite different to the south west corner of WA, i.e. not as many hills, competitors will cover approx 250km, this will be split into 12 sections, (3 more than last year). Instead of 1 ropes course, this year there will be 2, 1 of which we have been assured will be quite spectacular. The teams will also cover approx 150km on MTB, 75km on foot and roughly 30km in canoes (yes that’s canoes, the ones pictured in the advertisement). Also this year with the increase in slots allocated for the Championship Event in Canada from 4 to 6 we should find keen interest coming from the rest of the Oceania Zone, atleast 1 team from New Caledonia will also be on the start line, nevertheless as the local teams will only race the WA event the qualifiers for the Championship should be known after the race.
