New Challengers and Old Contenders for X-adventure

06.03.2006
More than forty teams have already signed up for the 2006 X-adventure, the three race qualifying series for the 3rd Raid World Championship in Canada. Alongside some of the more familiar faces on the circuit, many teams from around the world are taking their first steps into the world of international x-adventure racing.

Among the newcomers to the competition are the Portuguese team CLUBE MILLENNIUM BC and the Dutch team THE NORTH FACE HOLLAND - specialists in ultra-running and mountain racing - who have entered the French stage.

Team MILLIE (AUS) enter the foray earlier in the season, when they compete on home turf on the first stage. NOUVELLE-CALEDONIE (FRA), competing on two out of the three stages, will be counting on the experience of captain Eric Becker, winner on the 1991 Raid Gauloises. Team REVO (LIT) will present a mixture of a couple of brilliant orienteers from Lithuania and of an American duet, one of whom is the tried and tested Patrick Watson.

John Jacoby, on the winning team for the 2003 Raid Gauloises, will be part of the SPYDER team (USA), while the Iberian Peninsula will be presenting a new squad in the form of the GRIFONE-MASS RAID TEAM (ESP), comprising three Catalans and an Argentinean.

From Canada, with the prospect of competing for The Raid on home territory, comes one of the best teams in British Columbia, MARMOT (CAN), who can boast twin victories at Raid The North and The Sea to Summit races.
