Catch a Plane and ACE in Spain

If you fancy a bit of ‘pre-season’ training in the sun to get tuned up for a busy season of AR next year why not try the new ACE Races Spanish holiday.

When we asked Phil Humphreys what was involved he said, “The week is designed to be flexible and laid back with the opportunity to do as much or as little training as you like. We’ll do our best to tailor the programme to the needs of those who come. A week in the spectacular mountains of sunny Spain, away from the distractions of work and home should allow you to concentrate 100% on training - the area is perfect for mountain biking, trail running/trekking and canoeing. Families are welcome too.”

So, it’s the familiar ACE format of sociable AR for all, just in sunny Spain. It sounds like there will be plenty of different opportunities too, even horse riding if you want to try it, good facilities (including a pool) and the scenery in Southern Spain is superb. There will be evening seminars and a mini-race at the end of the week, which runs from February 15th to 22nd. (Though it’s in 2003 not 2002 as the ACE Races site now says!) The whole thing is more training holiday than training camp and it’s during half term if you want to take the kids. It’s an easy place to get to as well with flights to Malaga from several airports.

The all-inclusive price is £495 and the full details are on the ACE Races web site including links to the travel agents and the host company Axarsport, run by Rob Bateson – who has a profile page if you want to check it out. As all good travel agents say – ‘book early to avoid disappointment’.
