The revolutionized Eagle Bay Epic Adventure Race is on this weekend, 7-8 November 2020, starting and finishing at the Eagle Bay Brewing Co, Eagle Bay, Western Australia.

1,500 competitors are expected to grit their teeth in one of three races options to feature over the event weekend.

Each course takes in the best of the natural wilderness of the south-west, in and around Eagle Bay, Dunsborough, Meelup Regional Park and Geographe Bay.

“Some would say this is the birthplace of adventure racing for West Australian’s and we can’t wait to showcase the region and see some exciting racing take place,” said Event Director John Jacoby of Rapid Ascent.

Adventure races are held in high repute by active Western Australians as a result of the spectacular off-road course, the sheer scale and event atmosphere generated, the friendliness and engagement of the locals and the associated media attention attracted.

The Leeuwin Long Course will challenge the finest athletes with a non-stop course over four disciplines including a 23km mountain bike, 2km ocean swim, 13.5km paddle, and 12.5km trail run.

The Vibe Naturaliste Short Course offers a stepping stone into the sport of adventure racing with a 13km mountain bike, 1.2km ocean swim, 5km paddle and 7.9km trail run.

Both courses will be completed by individuals or as relay teams of two to four participants doing one leg each.

Rapid Ascent’s Event Directors Jacoby and Sam Maffett, who as experienced athletes themselves, designed the races with the motto - by competitors, for competitors – as it evolved from the previous Anaconda/Augusta Adventure Fest which holds a rich 14-year history.

Carrying the legacy of the incredibly popular Junior Survivor Challenge, the Kids Adventure challenge on Saturday afternoon offers kids aged up to 13 years the chance to be part of the adventure weekend with a 4km running and obstacle course. (Limited entries remain)

Saturday afternoon will also feature WA’s first ‘Wife’* Carrying Championships designed to provide some simple fun where one person will carry or piggyback another around an obstacle course as part of a head to head challenge. The winner will win their weight in beer!

Amongst the competitors will be a large number of adventure racing stalwarts and previous participants, along with many locals, families, first-timers, and 400 local primary school kids ready to embrace the epic adventure!

Entries are still open online with limited spots remaining. More event information can be found at www.eaglebayepic.com.au.
