The Atmosphere Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race
The Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race Back in Action
Press Release / 17.09.2021
The Atmosphere Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race (MOMAR) returns to Cumberland, BC on September 25, 2021, after a 1-year hiatus.
“After the cancellation of the 2020 MOMAR, we are super excited to be back in Cumberland this year,” says Race Director Bryan Tasaka. “We’re planning a slightly adapted formula for race weekend, but racers can expect our signature limit-testing MOMAR courses with a fun, relaxed vibe.”
The event will take place entirely outdoors this year, including Friday night registration and the post-race awards dinner.
The majority of this year’s participants are Vancouver Island residents, with racers also coming from Lower Mainland and towns throughout BC.
The public is invited to Cumberland Village Park to cheer on the racers as they cross the finish line from 1:30 to 5:00 pm.
The Cumberland Community Forest Society will be on-site all weekend raising funds with a beer garden and a 50/50 draw. Over the past 10 years, the MOMAR has been a proud supporter of the CCFS and its efforts to purchase, protect and care for Cumberland’s forests.
Race organizers are still looking for volunteers for race day. The MOMAR will be donating $5 to both the Cumberland Community Forest Society and the Comox Valley Search and Rescue for every registered volunteer. All volunteers will also receive a ticket for the MOMAR’s awards dinner at Cumberland Village Park. For more information on volunteering, visit www.mindovermountain.com or contact lisa@mindovermountain.com.
The MOMAR is an off-road multisport sprint adventure race that requires participants to navigate their way to a series of checkpoints within an 8 hour limit. The disciplines include mountain biking, paddling, orienteering and trail running over 30 or 50km of scenic and rugged west coast terrain. The MOMAR series has staged 40 races in British Columbia, Canada over 20 race seasons.
