Maximum Adventure Round off the Year in the Blue Mountains

That’s a wrap on the final Maximum Adventure Race event for 2021! Everyone had a blast and enjoyed the adventurous course in the beautiful Blue Mountains last weekend.

The Classic course teams tackled the mighty Glenbrook Gorge this year and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of this unique section of the course. The Novice teams didn’t miss out either, with both Novice and Classic teams flying down the exciting single track on the mountain bike leg. The weather even behaved for the Saturday event as well, the rain holding off until after the teams had successfully conquered the course.

First place overall, and first placed Mixed Team, was TMC Extreme Mountain Fusion Athletes (Kirsty Lowe & Michael Vanos) who just pipped The Moosers (Mitchell Isaacs & Chantal Bronkhorst) by less than two minutes. The decision to go for the bonus checkpoint proved the right call for these two teams and they were the quickest teams overall. The Mixed podium was rounded out by Married Just (Brooke & Bohdan Laforest)

In the Female category on the Classic Course it was Shredded Wheat (Eleanor Dalton & Josephine Barlow) in first place with Fueled by Coffee (Emma Inglis & Sandi Strickland) in 2nd and Forty & Fabulous (Ashlee Donnelly & Heidi Lindahl) in 3rd.

Meanwhile the 3rd Male team home was Team Tortoise (Andrew & James Kidner) and The Battlers (Matt Jenkins & Scott Campbell) in 2nd. First Male team home was Mad Mex Adventure (Bastien Missud & Thomas Wetula) in under 3 hours out on course.

Congratulations to those teams and also to all the teams, both Classic & Novice, who worked hard and pulled together to finish the course, which is not an achievement to be sneezed at.
