The Ötztal Cycle Marathon 2023 (AUT) is the most challenging cycling marathon in the Alps, offering a captivating mix of valley and high alpine terrain that contributes to a unique atmosphere.

The course covered 227 kilometers from Sölden over four alpine passes (Kühtaisattel, Brenner, Jaufenpass and Timmelsjoch) into South Tyrol and back.

Riders conquered an incredible 5.500 meters of elevation gain. The event attracted 4.333 participants from 36 nations and five continents who willingly toke on this enormous physical and mental challenge. 

This year, next to thousands of road cycling enthusiast and some VIPs are attempting to finish the demanding Ötztaler Cycle Marathon, among them the Austrian Ski jump legend Andreas Goldberger and the current World Cup winner in Nordic Combination Johannes Lamparter.

After 6:49:18,3 hours, the Italian Manuel Senni reached the finish line in first place to the thunderous applause of more than 5,000 spectators. On the last climb, up to the Timmelsjoch, he was able to break away from the leading group and brought the lead of about 2:40min to the finish.

Second place went to Austrian Alban Lakata, who managed to beat his compatriot Johnny Hoogerland (3rd place) with a better final sprint on the last climb.

In the women's race, the German Janina Meyer triumphed for the first time with an incredible record time of 7 hours, 27 minutes and 47 seconds. Samantha Arnaudo (ITA) in second and Catherine Rossmann (GER) in third completed the women's podium. A total of 3869 participants reached the finish line in Sölden.
