Maybe Xdin Survive to the Finish

The mystery of what happened to ‘Maybe Xdin’ was solved today when they crossed the finish line in 3rd position. For the first half of the race they were the dominant team and had built a commanding lead, but yesterday it disappeared very suddenly on the trekking section.

The trouble began on the horse ride when Per Vestling started to feel sick and vomit. “He couldn’t stay on the horse, so had to run, but that didn’t help his sickness much, said Bjorn Lans. “Then on the trek he got much worse, so bad we had to stop in a shelter for a couple of hours, but even after resting it still took us an hour to do the next 3km. We were so close to pulling out, it’s hard to help a team mate when you are trekking.

“I don’t know the reason I was so sick, said Per, “but I did swallow a lot of sea water during the kayaking. It could have been anything, and it didn’t help we made a navigational mistake on the trek too. Throughout yesterday they fell back but did pick up the pace again on the final paddle to the finish line, an impressive performance from a team who had only competed in weekend races up to now.
