The great adventure on the Green Emerald got off to a slow start, due to a strike by security staff at Orly which delayed departure by two hours, there was a further delay refuelling in Lyon, so when teams finally arrived on Friday they were keen to complete their final preparations.

The Russian team had a few difficulties with the medical list as some items are not available in Russia. The scrutinisers may have difficulties with confirming the russian substitutes too! The other all female team led by Karine baillet, looked fit and healthy, so there should be a good battle ahead between the two.

Your reporter was also feeling a little jaded having been traveling some 48 hours from Borneo, via Amsterdam and Paris to Reunion.

Briefing

The competitors gathered at the Apolonia hotel on a warm spring afternoon to receive a briefing on the course that faces them in the week ahead. The 17 teams including will start off tomorrow with a prologue which will be a regatta using local fishing boats on an 18k course off the coast of St. Paul.

The teams will then have a rest before the main race starts at 17.00 with a mountain bike leg. The starting order will be determined by the results of the prologue.See All Event Posts
