The lead has easily changed place half a dozen times or more since this race began, barely more than twenty-four hours ago, and the lead will likely be a hot potato for the remainder of the race. Early this morning, somewhere in the orienteering section between CPs 14 and 16, Salomon Suisse navigated its way past the other teams, and popped out at the end of the section in first place.
“It helps to have a world champion in orienteering on your team, noted Francois Faloci, referring to his teammate Alain Berger
Northern Sweden is the land of the midnight sun, but at this time of year, it’s more the land of the midnight twilight. Last night, the teams never really had to race in total darkness, more like a dark dusk.
“It’s very practical, says Luc Beguin of Salomon Suisse. \"We have never raced in this kind of light before.\"
“We are not tired at all this morning, adds Faloci. “We have never raced anywhere that it did not get dark at night.
