Old bikes and old teammates: Let the hallucinations begin;“I was very tired on that bike leg, says Francois Faloci. “At one point I just had to stop and lie down by the side of the road. I could not move for two minutes, and then I got up and felt better. But then, when I got on my bike, I started to change gears – only I ended up changing them the way I used to on my old bike. I just thought I was on my old bike.
Tim Derrick of Team Montrail didn’t dream about a different bike, but he was hallucinating other teammates.
“Yeah, at one point I turned around and looked at Rebecca, only I was about to call her by another name. I absolutely thought I was with my regular team, instead of with Montrail.
Teammates are a common hallucination for Derrick. “I usually dream that we’re racing and missing a teammate. But it’s like I’m not really there, I’m kind of removed, so it’s me that is missing.
The top four teams arrived at the end of the mountain bike section in the early evening hours, first (Cross Sportswear) and fourth (Montrail) separated by a scant three and half hours. But none of them were in any hurry to get away from TA5. That’s because the race organization has deemed this a mandatory medical check stop, and all teams must stop here at the Saxnasgarden Hotel and Spa for five hours. See All Event Posts
