Reunion d’Aventures
The Weather Takes a Turn for the Worse
David Ogden - International Adventurers / 16.05.2005

There had been steady drizzle and wind throughout the night, and at dawn the organisers sent out a team to check out the Biberon waterfall. They found the level was just passable. The teams camping in the open had an uncomfortable night. Whilst those in refuges fared better. Even the assistance crews got wet today as they had a one hour hike from the trail head to collect the bikes at the end of the mountain bike leg.
The end of the mountain bike leg saw team ‘Sport 2000’ in a commanding lead of over an hour however they lost half of this as the support team did not have the map for the next orienteering leg. The captain leapt onto his mountain bike to collect it from the support vehicle at the trail head, meanwhile the rest of the team waited in the cold and the wet.
Running second at this stage were ‘Centre des Calmes’ who left 20 minutes behind with the women’s team Wilsa Sport chasing hard 10 minutes later, having spent minimum time in transition. In fourth place were the ‘Marine National’ Team who had elected to stop early the previous night to take advantage of a refuge, so they were now playing catch-up.
The next transition before the Biberon waterfall saw the leaders once more an hour ahead, however the all women’s team had taken second place and with another fast transition were soon climbing to the head of the waterfall. See All Event Posts
