At 0:800 the press gathered at the finish line … all that were missing were the teams. Perhaps they were enjoying their night by the sea and were in no hurry to complete the course.

The first to cross the line were the ‘Scott Vaucluse Aventure Evasion’, shortly after 9am. The team won the Adventure category by a wide margin. They regretted their decision to stop early on day 2, thinking they would need more that 2 hours for the round trip to the summit of Piton de Neiges. They completed the trip in 1 hour 50 minutes the following morning but then failed to meet the cut-off time at the Biberon waterfall due to the two lost hours and so were forced to take the adventure course.

The three remaining members of ‘Run Evasion’ were second to cross the line. There were no honors for them just the memories that they had managed complete the course.

Team 16 ‘Sports 2000 La Fuma’, suffered a further 20 minute penalty this morning, as a result of a complaint from another team regarding late arrival at a CP earlier in the race. But even so, when they crossed the line at 09:21 they won the overall race and denied Karine Baillet her third victory.

Her all female team, Wilsa Sport Helly Hansen, took 2nd place, the youngest team member Perrine (24) an orienteering champion found the pace very hard and needed assistance from her team-mates to complete the course and fight off the threat from ‘Centre des Calmes’, who made a vain attempt to catch the women in the final stage, closing within minutes before dropping back for a safe third place.

The winning team in the Discovery class, ‘Agence Touriste’ is expected to arrive later today.See All Event Posts
