Appalachian Extreme Adventure Race 2005
Simon River Sports\' lead cut by 4 hours
Tracyn Thayer / 23.05.2005

Team Simon River Sports left out of TA4/CP27 this morning around 9:20AM, with a healthy (at least) 6 hour lead. After 4 hours, when they hadn\'t arrived at CP28, TA4 staff was surprised to see the team arrive back at the TA. Apparently the team was having a hard time finding a route into CP28/Sawyer Notch. At 14:58, team 16 logged into CP28, back on track. This puts Team DART a bit more in contention, as they are the next 4-person co-ed team behind them, now not so far behind.Team GOALS ARA (alternate course team) and Team Cyclefit-Archipela (also alternate course) were not far behind. These are the only 3 teams that have begun the final mountain bike leg.
Other teams that made the 3:30PM cutoff include:
- DART
- Eastern Mountain Sports
- 20-40
- NEMO Equipment
- Blind Faith
- ZED
- Adventure Pocono
- SPTU/Darn Tough
- GTA
- ATP/Odyssey
Team Terranauts has pulled out of the race at TA3, and Team NEARA was redirected at TA3 due to missing the 3:30PM Cutoff.
Headquarters has been a buzz as teams, support crews, various landowner that granted permission for the course, including Harlan Connary of the North Country ATV Club, hung around learning about the course, watching staff try to figure out where all the teams were, and listened to the radio chatter from the course.
New time of expected arrival for the first team is around 8PM. There\'s a small crowd waiting! See All Event Posts
