Jesper Kunuk Egede / 13.07.2005

On Saturday July 16 at 11 AM local time, the start goes for Arctic Team Challenge 2005, a 250 kilometer race. The race takes place in a stunningly beautiful, yet exceptionally harsh, terrain.9 teams have found their way to the remote Ammassalik Island in East Greenland, and for the next 5 days they’ll be competing to be the first to finish the race. Again this year, we have an exciting line up:
Saab Salomon, UK
Team Birds Eye, UK
Team Jabberwock, South Africa
Team 66 North, Iceland
Team ACG, West Greenland
Team SIKU, West Greenland
Team PharmaNord/Inu:IT, West Greenland
Team Pikkori Sport, East Greenland
Team Tasiilaq/Qaqortoq, East/West Greenland
After a very strong summer storm last night, the weather has calmed down today. Temperature is 20° Celsius. The sky is clear. Half of the teams have arrived on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday we expect the remaining contestants to arrive in Tasiilaq, in time for the pre-race dinner Thursday night. On Friday, the teams get to get acquainted with the race canoes.
