X-adventure Raid World Cup 2005
Les Arcs Win Again
Rob Howard / 24.07.2005

They’ve been the dominant team all season and once again Les Arcs Quechua rode across the finish line as winners of a Raid World Cup race. It was their third win from 4 races this year (and they were second in the other round, losing to Balance Vector Seagate in Australia). Faure Christophe, Yves Billodeau, Rudy Gouy and Anne Laure Mignery were just too good for the challenging teams, and although they were a little slower than their nearest rivals on the final Mtb stage, they had plenty of time in hand and rode across the line casually, holding hands and enjoying their victory.
On the long mountain run, which crossed some magnificent Pyrenean terrain, they only needed to stay with Saab Salomon to secure their position and the two teams ran almost stride for stride much of the way. As they did so they pulled away from Ertips Salomon France, who were nearly 30 minutes slower, and lost 3rd place to Mont-Blanc International by 6 minutes.
All the lead teams were held for a while at the end of the run, to regroup the field before starting the final stage, a 20km mtb ride. They were now back at Grau Riog, where the race began on Saturday morning, and the ride would take them from there to the finish at the town of Canillo.See All Event Posts
