If the pickup truck is rocking, don’t come knocking. Unless the pickup is at the finish line of an adventure race, and it’s racers that are making it rock.

It was just past six-thirty this evening when the Brazilian team Oskalunga Brasil Telecom crossed the finish line at Gramado. With the Brazilian flag in one hand and his bike handles in the other, Frederico Gail and his teammates Monclair Cammarota, Fernanda Moura Maciel and Guilherme Silva became the first Brazilian team to finish this short but tough Brazilian adventure race.

The champagne was flowing but it the beer was much more welcome.

“That’s what I want, Gail said, slugging back the beer in two swift gulps.

“This is what we have been training for all year, he said. “We really wanted to keep up with the international teams, but after a while we decided just to do our pace, and finish the race.

“We realized after one day that if we kept up with the international teams, we would die, says Monclair Cammarota.See All Event Posts
