Teva Adventure Series - Melbourne
Good old dirty fun in Melbourne
Geocentric / 24.10.2005

With 54 teams competing in 3 categories, Wombat State Forest, northwest of Melbourne, proved the perfect setting for a fantastic race. Cool conditions and only light sprinklings of rain throughout the day meant that the top teams were able to finish the challenging course in just under three hours, testing both their physical prowess on the hike and bike legs and, as one competitor put it, “straining some mental muscle on the various course obstacles. The first team to cross the line in a time of 2 hours and 55 min was Team LSB, an all male team consisting of Ben Patrick, Liam Delaney and Sam Maffett. Their strong teamwork and clever navigational skills saw them leading the race right from the word go, and they seemed unfazed by The South Easton Idiots, who finished second in the all-male category, just 20 min behind.
Team Melbourne Adventure, made up of consistent top-performers Delyth Lloyd, Jared Kohlar and Simon Knowles, took out overall race honours, finishing second overall (only 10 min behind the LSB boys!) and first in the Premier Mixed category in a time of 3 hours and 5 min. Reports from the course were that the Melbourne Adventure crew ran a very tight, well-planned race…right until the end when Delyth took a tumble over the handlebars in front of the finish-line crowd!! Well done!
