Two More Teams Withdraw From the Race

Late last night, we reported that Team Strike Anywhere had a serious injury. The broken metatarsel forced Oat Whitney to withdraw from the race. We had no information if the rest of the team was going to continue unranked. Strike Anywhere decided to withdraw with their team member yesterday evening at 11:40pm at Checkpoint 15.During the second trekking section, between Checkpoint 15 and 16, one of the members of Team Terranauts leg locked up preventing him from finishing the section. At 6:35am, just outside of Checkpoint 16, the team opened their emergency radio pack and called in for a pickup. The first report was their team member\'s hip locked up making it too painful to walk. The team stayed with him and took the ride back to HQ.
Mavericks arrived at Checkpoint 16 at 6:20pm. This was forty minutes before the first Race Cut-Off time at Checkpoint 17. Since there was no chance for the team to make the cut-off, they decided to take a one hour nap then continue onto the next checkpoint. Once there, they will be directed to take the first planned short course directly to Checkpoint 22. Mavericks were the only team not to make the Race Cut-Off. Currently there are nine teams still running ranked: One solo team, Two two person teams, and Six teams of four.See All Event Posts
