Karrimor International Mountain Marathon
Comfortable Wins in the B and C Class
Rob Howard / 30.10.2005

The first winners back to HQ were from the C class. Wendy and Jo Inge Fjellstad had crossed the finish line before 10.00, when some of the later starters had only recently set off from the mid-camp!They’d set off at 07.00 on the chasing start with a 20 minute lead and stayed in front to win with a total time of 7.44.43 ahead of Sean Radford and Nick Green, who were 15 minutes behind them. We were glad to be doing the bad weather course, said Wendy. “It’s the first two day race we’ve done, and carrying all the equipment was hard on the big climbs.\"
\"We live in Norway and do some orienteering, but Jo Inge is better at that than me, so he did the navigating. I’ve run a couple of marathons and we do some cross-country skiing, but this was harder on our legs!
“We’re surprised we’ve won, she added, “we didn’t really expect to, but I guess we do a lot of outdoor activities. The pair were dressed in complete KIMMLite outfits and carrying new KIMMLite rucksacks as they had purchased new gear for their first mountain marathon, so they were pleased to hear they’d won a cash prize!
Next in were the ‘B’ Class winners, Chris Sellens & Rob Little, who was a winner in the A class last year. The two Sheffield University athletes also had a big overnight lead and said they’d taken safer routes today. “Yesterday was very physical, Sellens said, “and we didn’t sleep much in the wind at the campsite, but I doubt anyone did. Today the weather was worse, so ran in our cags and keep moving at a good speed. See All Event Posts
