Sonora, CA (November 18, 2005) – This past weekend, DART won the 4th and last stop of the Explore California 24 hour series (www.exploreca.com) held at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in central California. The win gave the team enough points to rank them first overall at the end of the 4 race series. The 4th race in California’s “Gold Country required teams to paddle the length of a lake, trek through some difficult terrain, rappel off cliffs along an old railway grade, and mountain bike on all sorts of trails including those that have been partially reclaimed by mother nature. The team was comprised of Jennifer Van Gorder, Glenn Rogers, and Cyril Jay-Rayon. The course was designed to have teams find 37 check points (CPs) that were placed anywhere from mountain tops with no trails leading to them to overgrown decommissioned railway grades. “I was a bit surprised to find that the course had 37 CPs, explained Cyril, the team navigator. “Typically races that have 37 CPs are of expedition length and are 4- 7 days. However, the increased number of CPs meant that we would have to be more focused and precise in our navigation as we’d have to find one CP after another in a very short period of time. I was looking forward to the challenge.See All Event Posts
