Desafios de Los Volcanoes
Big Bear In Patagonia
Rob Howard / 26.01.2006

The team is normally made up of residents of Big Bear Lake, a small ski-town situated at 7,000 feet in the San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California. Although new to the AR scene in 2005 the team is comprised of racers with many years of experience. Their individual race resumes boasts expeditions including Primal Quest(s), Eco Challenge, and Eco Motion, as well as many shorter races such as the Cal Eco's, West Coast AR, Big Blue Series, Wasatch and even Chicago's Wild Scallion. In 2005 the team took on the Explore CA races with a 4th place overall finish in the series. For the Desafios de los Volcanes race, the team's co-captains Ted Devito and Heather Salzer have recruited two experienced racers from Washington State. Aaron Rinn (Team DART and Mergeo.com) and Roger Michel (Team Mergeo.com) will be joining the team for their Patagonian adventure.
Heather Salzer comments, "Big Bear is an ideal place to live, work and train for us. The community has numerous running and hiking trails, killer singletrack, a beautiful lake for kayaking, and even some local peaks that reach over 11,000 feet for some outstanding mountaineering training."
They will need all those skills when the race starts next Sunday, and hope to report back for SleepMonsters before they set off and from the race finish. See All Event Posts
