Land Rover G4 Challenge International Selection
I'd give up my job to do the Challenge
03.02.2006

Moscow TV reporter Pavel Federov, found out about Land Rover’s G4 Challenge when he was assigned to cover the inaugural event in 2003. Three years on, Pavel is down to the final three for the 2006 Challenge - having fought off competition from across the world’s largest country. If selected, and to do that he must beat his fellow Muscovites Dmitry Timokhin and Evgeniya Runova, Pavel will be faced with a challenge of another kind … losing his job.
“Just to be here in England for International Selections, I have had friends at work cover for me, as I am out of holiday, says Federov. “But to take a month off for the Challenge would be impossible. I would have to give up my job. But that is not a problem. I am a good journalist and I would be happy to find another job. The Challenge is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would choose that anytime.
By her own admission, Advertising Executive, Evgeniya, believes her chances of winning the Russian place in the Land Rover G4 Challenge is unlikely. Two weeks ago she was on crutches after a skiing accident. But Evgeniya was elated at the chance to travel to the UK for the International Selections experience.
Dmitry likens his week contesting for the International Selections to playing a life-size game of chess. He spent time looking through the schedule for this intense week of high action and high adrenaline before even flying to the UK.
“I see each task as a square and my plan of how to take each square was one I worked out carefully, says the Russian chess fan, who has taken his training so seriously he even bought a right-hand drive car in Russia to train for the activities. Dmitry believes he will be picked for the month-long event, he is also believes his chances to win the Challenge and the prize of a Range Rover outright are high. “I keep seeing Range Rovers in Moscow. I want one of them to be mine.See All Event Posts
