John Flynn / 18.03.2006

The scene is set for an enthralling contest in this afternoon’s major trekking stage at the X-Adventure Raid World Cup, after Team Spyder USA lived up to expectations by winning this morning’s first adventure running stage between Bunker Bay and Yallingup on Australia’s South-West Coast. With conditions beginning to seriously heat up, the team which includes two Australians completed the opening walk / run stage in a time of 1.17.54.
As the mercury hit 30 celcius degrees and threatened to go higher later in the day, team Spyder appeared to relish the sandy tracks far more than several of its European rivals, who have emerged from the depth of the Northern winter and in many cases, jobs as ski instructors and mountain resort workers.
“It was great, very sandy, quite undulating, was a tough run, “ team Spyder’s Narelle Ash told Sleepmonsters.
The Queenslander, who is accustomed to racing in the heat, preparing to put her feet up, with a scheduled rest for the second gruelling afternoon run leg.
“I feel for the guys now because they’ve gotta go again another 33 k, Ash said.See All Event Posts
