FjallRaven Get Third

The fourth and final day of the race began just after midnight when Lundhags Adventure rode up to the finish line to take second place at 25 minutes past midnight. They finished 4 hours and 35 minutes behind the winners, and getting lost in the city of Jaen for 30 minutes as they tried to find a way through the one way system to the castle didn’t help.

Asked about when the Finnish team had passed them on last night’s bike ride, Martina Hook said, “It wasn’t really to do with route choice, I was just too tired and slow, I even had to be towed on the downhills! Bjorn Rydvall was limping as he got off his bike on the finish line, and all the team were sunburnt from earlier in the day and very dehydrated. “This is far enough! said Sonny Peterson, “Even though it was shortened it was a long enough course and we’re glad it’s over. We don’t want to do any more!

Just before they finished Race Director Antonio de la Rosa had received a call from Team Fjallraven saying they were still up on the mountain top and lost – so it was going to be some time before the third placed team came in.

It took even longer than expected and the Danish team, having finally made their way off the summit of Magina, crossed the line at 09.32 next morning.

“We were looking for a way down from the summit, said Morten Kusk, “and went round in a circle for 30 minutes to end up where we started. Then we did the same thing again! They’d spent over 18 hours on the trek, which took the winners under 11 hours, but held on to a well deserved 3rd place, a great result for a team with little international or long race experience.See All Event Posts
