Eco-Lonestar from Muleshoe Bend Park

The Eco Lonestar Adventure Race was held on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Muleshoe Bend Park in Austin, Texas. Teams raced in either the Basic 2-person division, or the Extreme 4-person division with a 10-hour race cut-off. Both divisions started with a 2 mile run, then a 7 mile singletrack bike ride on some of Texas' best singletrack trails. Basic division teams then completed another short run and a series of mystery events to finish out the race.

The Extreme division teams received their maps and UTM coordinates to plot their route and strategies for the remainder of the course. This rogaine-style section of the race allowed teams to travel to the two-part checkpoints by any mode of transportation (run, bike, paddle). Teams strategized on the best course of travel and off they went! A 10-hour race cut-off was in effect causing teams to plan out which points could be retrieved while still returning in the finish time. This United States Adventure Racing Championship qualifier event was the first in Texas in 2006.
