Team Mighty Dog Claims Victory

Once again Ronny Angell and the entire Odyssey Adventure Race staff put on a fantastic race through hills of eastern Kentucky for the Kentucky 12 hr AR. This race kicks off the Odyssey 12 hr AR series for 2006 and was a fitting start to a great series. With rains coming into the area on Thursday the course took on a sharp change from the pre-race conditions. Streams that had been only ankle deep swelled to mid thigh and the conditions in the cave section merited a through check from race officials to ensure the racers safety in this part.

The race started with great weather conditions, mild breezes, no rain and warm temps. Thirty-two teams were on hand for the start competing in divisions, solo male, solo female, 2 per male, 2 per coed, 3 per male and 3 person coed. At 0700 the race began, true to OAR fashion racers left the Start/Finish/TA for a short Prolog run down to the boat launch. While this was not a long run the elevation gain on the way back to the TA was grueling and one the 2-3 person teams would come to hate later in the race.See All Event Posts
