Infiterra Sports Coast to Coast
2006 Michigan Coast to Coast Finish City Announced
09.05.2006

Infiterra Sports LLC announced Alpena would be the Host City for the finish of the 2006 Michigan Coast to Coast today. The 2nd annual expedition length race will travel from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron. Until this point, teams have not been aware of the location for the finish of the race. Co-race director and Infiterra Sports partner Luke Osborn made the announcement stating, “We look for several factors in determining a host finish city and Alpena is a great choice for us and our racers. There are several hotels, other accommodations, great parks and the city has greeted us with open arms. The City of Alpena was very receptive and encouraging. That’s great to see in a city and we are happy to see that they are excited about the Michigan Coast to Coast and bringing Adventure Racing into their city.
Osborn also noted, “We try to keep all aspects of the course as confidential as possible until the pre-race briefing, but this will give teams the opportunity to finalize their travel plans and make post race accommodations. We highly doubt this announcement can give any team an advantage on the course.
The 2006 Michigan Coast to Coast will be an 88-hour expedition length race that will take coed teams of four from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron. It will be comprised of the standard adventure racing disciplines of trekking/running, biking, paddling, fixed ropes and be fully navigation based. This marquee race in Michigan will be challenging to the most experienced teams yet still be accomplished by racers that take the time to prepare.
The Michigan Coast to Coast is back for its second year after an overwhelmingly successful debut in 2005. Four of the top five teams are returning for the second go-round across the mitten state. In total, 25 states and Canada are represented among the registered participants thus far.
