Explore the West, Southern Nevada
So Nevada- It's almost race time.......
Tedd Schredd- Race Reporter / 11.05.2006

The mercury has seen some action lately as temps approached the century mark for the first time in the southern Nevada Mojave Desert. Race Directors Paul Romero and Karen Lundgren have just put finishing touches on the course today. With virtually no wind, Lake Mead was emerald green and glassy. Karen Lundgren notes " A few athletes have showed up early to attempt some recon, and quickly learned this piece of land is majestic. It's also harsh, and will demand teams to care for each other, the whole race."When asked about the 'new' discipline of packrafting added to this event, co director Paul Romero commented "It has been added, actually out of neccessity, and it will be rather demanding." Romero added, packrafting is rarely used in AR, and rightly so... it's rarely needed. The Colorado River is absolutely amazing, and racers will have plenty of time to see it's surroundings."
