Explore the West Race Update #5 9:00 am PST Sunday May 14

I have been waiting to connect at the finish line with a team, since about midnight last night. And you know why I waited through the night? Who gets blamed for this late update? The Hoover Dam.

Team Dart was way out in front when they had to do the pack rafting section. While they were paddling, someone, somewhere decided to release the Hoover Dam in all its\' fury. Unfortunately the release of water made it next to impossible to paddle the raft.

Team Dart experienced a significant delay. Race Director Karen Lundgren, “We were expecting them over the finish line anytime after 1:00 AM, but it didn’t happen that way.�

Team Dart arrived across the finish line with a little more than 23 hours passed on the clock. They looked surprisingly enthusiastic and full of smiles. When asked what their secret was, Team Captain Cyril Jay-Rayon responded, “We had to shift to expedition mode. Slowed it down, the navigation was fun but the terrain was so brutal. We invented a route and it worked!�

Five minutes later team JDBK whizzed across the finish line for second place.

Team 8 - Team Bravo
Team 16 – Bagby’s Dad
Team 17 – Billy Joe D
